New Port Richey Fishing Charter Report -January 2026

🎣 Winter Fishing Report – New Port Richey, FL | JC Fishin Charters

January fishing in New Port Richey has been very productive, especially for anglers focusing on the backcountry, canals, and tidal creeks. With cooler water temperatures settling in, fish are grouping up and feeding aggressively in protected areas, making for consistent action on light tackle.

Live shrimp and fiddler crabs have been the top producers this month. Fishing them slowly along mangrove shorelines, oyster edges, docks, and deeper bends in the creeks has resulted in steady catches of redfish, sheepshead, and black drum. These winter patterns are perfect for anglers of all experience levels and make for great family-friendly fishing trips.

Redfish have been cruising the shallows during warmer parts of the day and staging near deeper water when temperatures dip. Sheepshead and black drum are holding tight to structure, especially around docks, seawalls, and bridge pilings, where live shrimp and fiddler crabs have been hard for them to pass up.

Light tackle setups have been ideal, allowing anglers to feel every bite while keeping the fishing fun and hands-on. The calmer winter conditions and reduced boat traffic have made January an excellent time to explore the backcountry waters along Florida’s Gulf Coast.

If you’re looking for a New Port Richey fishing charter in January, this is one of the best times of year to target quality fish in sheltered waters. Consistent action, cooler temperatures, and beautiful winter days are setting the stage for a strong start to the year on the water.

NEW REVIEW!

JC Charter was amazing from booking to after the trip. Every step along the way couldn’t have been better. JC was amazing he really put forth so much effort to make our trip special. We went wanting to catch Red fish and boy did we ever. Not to mention both me and my girlfriend caught the biggest fish of our lives, we each caught and landed a trophy sized Snook each. I had no expectations to catch. These fish but so happy to have done so. And I can’t forget we caught Speckled sea trout and lady fish. JC is very knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. I will be booking another trip when I return to New Port Richey next year. If you wanna have a great trip JC is your captain, remember it’s fishing not catching and if you live to fish with a great captain JC is the guy. Fish bite when they want but it was JC who got us to them. I couldn’t be happier with our trip and those are lifetime memories of the beautiful area and the chance to catch great fish. Now stop reading reviews and just Book with JC Charters.
