New Port Richey Fishing Charter Report August 2026
August Fishing Report: Hot Redfish Action in New Port Richey, FL
August fishing in New Port Richey, FL has been hot, with water temperatures around 90°F. While fishing variety is limited during the peak summer heat, the reward has been some solid-sized redfish.
The best redfish fishing has been from early morning through mid-morning. Cut bait fished on the bottom has been producing the best results, making an early start the key to finding quality fish before the heat intensifies.
With scalloping season currently closed, the waterways around New Port Richey and Pasco County have been less crowded, creating a more relaxed inshore fishing experience. We're looking forward to scalloping reopening in Pasco County and another exciting season on the water.
As we move toward fall, New Port Richey fishing should continue to improve. Cooler water temperatures will bring more species and more opportunities for redfish, trout, snook, and other inshore fish around New Port Richey, Tarpon Springs, and Anclote.
For now, August is all about early mornings, hot water, and quality redfish. If you're planning a New Port Richey fishing charter, this is a great time to get out early and take advantage of the summer bite.

NEW REVIEW!
Our first fishing trip with Captain Jason definitely won't be our last! We asked for the charter to focus on helping us catch #Redfish. Capt J knew some great spots to go to, had a simple plan that worked, and gave us exactly what we asked for - with both my son and I each catching our biggest reds ever!
Here's why I 100% recommend JC Fishin Charters:
1. Capt J is friendly and helpful. He openly shared his tips and strategies with us about finding good spots, tackle/gear, casting techniques, etc. That alone was worth the trip.
2. Capt J really listened to what we wanted to accomplish - catch slot reds, he was well prepared to make that goal happen, and he delivered.
3. Capt J's flats boat is killer - it's low and wide with lots of space for multiple people to cast/fish. It's also a smooth ride. And it gets into skinny water - most of the reds we caught were in 8-9 inched of water.
4. After we had so much success with Reds, Capt J gave us other ideas to try new things which was fun.
5. I have fished these waters locally for about 6 years now and I've never had the success with Reds like I had with Capt J.
We're already looking forward to our next trip with JC Fishin Charters. Do yourself a favor and book a trip with Capt J today!
